MiSim MLPS - Advanced label formatting and parsing
MiSim MLPS is a printer resident middleware application that is optimized for creating bar codes and 2D symbols from label text data. In traditional parsing applications, the parser has to extract data by looking for key phrases, line number, character positions and length. The MiSim MLPS interface provides a field in each label object that carries the host system database column or field name. This allows free-form placement of items on the label without adversely affecting the parser. MiSim MLPS accomodates varying resolutions (DPI), multiple copies, media changes, and specialized processing such as the generation of an ANSI/HIBC 3.0 standard symbol from the label data. Specialized formatting functins are also available such as the reverse printing with a black stripe spanning the label as shown in the example.

Through the use of form media codes, the printer can accommodate multiple label and ribbon types and prompt the operator to change the labels and ribbon as required. The label form codes, their display names and configuration data are uploadable to the printer through simple text files that can be sent as print jobs.

An example MiSim MLPS generated label
This is a label that implements special formatting and an ANSI/HIBC 3.0 symbol for programming an IV pump. The symbol data is generated by the printer application.

2D Symbol Content Details

The 2D symbol is an ANSI\HIBC 3.0 Positive Identification For Patient Safety standard format. It contains patient, order, drug identification, dosing, total volume and dose tracking information. The construction of this symbol including mandatory field validation is performed in the printer.
The dose tracking number 1000000000012345 is encoded in a 1D symbol on the top section of the label. This can be eliminated gaining valuable label space by implementing MiSim Software on CodeCorp imagers to parse and extract this data from the DTI record in the 2D symbol.
